Photography Competition 2015: ‘Trees We Love’
RUBiS, Guernsey and Jersey Trees for Life announce the winners of the exciting photography competition ‘Trees We Love’, where islanders were invited to take great photos of their favourite trees in Guernsey and Jersey. It was open to all amateur photographers, with entries split into three categories: Primary School, Secondary School, and Open.
Entries were judged by an independent panel, and there are three winners and three runners up in each category.
Adult winners received a £500 credit to their RUBiS Card (or a pre-loaded RUBiS Card for new customers), whilst younger entrants were rewarded with a £200 Amazon voucher to spend on whatever they wish!
Funds raised through the campaign linked to the competition will provide vital support for projects in both Islands by enabling the planting of trees and hedgerows, creating valuable ‘habitat corridors’ for wildlife in the process.
There were a total of 35 entries from Guernsey.
After collecting all the scores, the Guernsey winner was Gareth Le Page’s excellent (3rd) image of a rural setting:
and coming in second was Kay Gillespie:
We are planning on showcasing the entrants’ images from each island at Beau Sejour in Guernsey and Jersey Airport arrivals hall on National Tree Week, beginning 30th November 2015.
RUBiS will then use a selection of their favourite images – six from Jersey and six from Guernsey – for their 2016 annual calendar
